OTAHUHU BUS INTERCHANGE

The Otahuhu Bus/Rail Interchange, part of Auckland's modernisation of transport hubs, boasts some of the city’s most exciting landscaping. Commissioned from the outset of the earthworks phase, the project was a collaboration with Downer, who recognised the high nutrient value of Living Earth’s Puketutu Gold. This rich topsoil alternative, high in organic matter, proved ideal for wetland planting around the interchange.

The Otahuhu Bus/Rail Interchange, part of Auckland's modernisation of transport hubs, boasts some of the city’s most exciting landscaping.

Living Earth’s Ultrasoil/Tree Pit Mix was used in planting areas, providing the ideal environment for robust tree growth. For lawn establishment, the Living Earth Lawn Mix was chosen, ensuring strong, healthy grass throughout the area. Additionally, Living Earth’s Raingarden Mix was selected to manage stormwater runoff, reducing overflow and enhancing water filtration.

Puketutu Gold, a nutrient-rich compost blend made from aged organic matter, is an exceptional soil conditioner, providing excellent fertility and moisture retention. This product has become highly sought after by landscapers, offering a topsoil-like quality with superior nutrients.

The Raingarden Mix, engineered to absorb and slowly release water, is perfect for urban stormwater management. It meets the Stormwater Management Devices Auckland Region GDOI standards and is preferred for large-scale commercial and urban developments across the region. Living Earth’s solutions helped create a sustainable, thriving environment at Otahuhu, supporting Auckland’s greener future.
